A vasectomy is a safe, effective, and permanent procedure. Dr. Colin Linke, a board-certified urologist, performs office-based vasectomies with the option of Nitronox for comfort and easy recovery. Most patients resume normal activity within a few days.
As opposed to traditional methods, a specialized instrument creates a small opening – about the size of an eraser head. This heals in about 3-5 days
For men who prefer added comfort during the procedure, Nitronox is available. This is a safe mixture of 70% nitrous oxide and 30% oxygen inhaled through a mouthpiece during the procedure.
Patients may choose Nitronox for additional comfort during their vasectomy.

Before your vasectomy, Dr. Linke will review your medical history, answer questions, and explain the procedure. Patients should avoid blood thinners beforehand unless approved by their prescribing physician. It is also asked that you shave the procedure area 1-2 days prior to the procedure. You will sign your consent form prior to any Nitronox given.
Comfort is our #1 priority! You will be given free access to the Nitronox handpiece prior to the procedure beginning. Numbing medicine will be utilized prior to the vasectomy. The procedure itself takes about 15 minutes from start to finish. You may feel some gentle pulling during the procedure, which is normal and not generally painful. A small suture will be utilized at the end of the procedure to close the small opening. This is dissolvable.
Most men experience mild soreness for 1–3 days, which is easily managed with ice packs and over-the-counter pain medication. Wearing supportive underwear helps reduce discomfort.
